Drawing XS from Proposed Surface DTM not working

I am having issues with Geopak drawing the proposed XS lines into my XS using the dtm I created from Corridor Modeler. For this project, I have a mainline and 4 ramps. About a month ago, I created all the dtms and ran all the proposed XS no problem. Now I need to update them with the latest design. So I went in and deleted the proposed lines and began adding in the new ones. The first ramp ran just fine, all the lines and point names showed up and I was able to do my labeling. When I started the next ramp, all the lines would show up, but not the point names, so I couldnt do the labeling. Now, trying today, it seems everything is going wrong and all I am getting is a line string for my top surface that is on Default (the level i had selected in the display settings).

I am following the manual as far as all the settings when running the proposed XS. Is it possible something is going wrong when i create the dtm from Corridor Modeler? I have checked the accompanying tin files and they look fine.

Thanks

  • As you have surmised, anything that is displayed when you use the draw cross section tool in GEOPAK comes from the DTM file created from the Roadway Designer create surface tool.  That said ... I have seen where if you use the same surface name when the create surface tool is executed that the dtm file is not over written.

    1.  Try deleting or renaming the older dtm files and run the create surface again on your corridors.

    2. Check to see that only one rddbs folder exists in your project directory.  It may be that your alg file is not getting updated.  This is a separate issue from above.

    3. Make sure there are no old .rsc files in the project directory and FDOTSS2/ temp/GPKRSC  folder.

If none of this solves the issue, I can help you troubleshoot the issue.  850414-4897

  • I tried deleting and recreating the dtm files and that seemed to fix the issue of the XS elements not showing up at all, but I was still not getting point names. I verified that there was only one rddbs, so that was not an issue. After I deleted all my resource files, the point names started showing up again, so I am back up and running.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Just curious...in your cross section file is the level turned on for the point names.  It should be on TextLabel or some other text level, however, sometimes the point names come out on the default level.

  • Brad, I did consider that as well. The point names come in on whatever your active level is when you are placing the proposed sections. In my case, i put it on NonPlottingEle_dp so I didnt have to worry about these points plotting. I checked to be sure the level was on in my view and it was, so I believe the problem was something to do with the resource files as Vern suggested. Deleting those files seemed to do the trick.
