Your next task is to complete your profile description in a manner similar to a resume.

Fill in your Profile information

1. Returning to the Your Account page, click the Basic Info tab.

This page provides the location where you enter information about yourself that is, in turn, shared with all members of the BE Communities whenever they click on your avatar or name from a search, a response to a Forum or if you write or respond to a blog entry.  This is your de-facto resume so treat it as the valuable resource it is.

2. Enter your Name and location information in the appropriate fields. Page down to the Bio Section.

The public email, MSN IM, AAOL IM, Yahoo IM, ICQ, Skype and Web Address, are optional fields.

3. Locate the text field "Bio - Let us know about your history".

This field is the equivalent to the body of your resume. Use this area to describe yourself, your goals, experiences, etc, as you would on your resume. There is a separate section below for work and school information. This field will accept HTML tags, however, be judicious in their use as this formatting data may interfere with a potential employer's search process.

 

4. Locate the Work section and click the Add Company/Organization button.

The Add Company / Organization window appears.

5. Enter employment information as you would in your resume.

If you are still employed, select the Current option.

6. Click the Save Company / Organization button to save your entry.

Your newly entered information appears in the Work table of your profile. Note: You can always edit the content of an entry using the Edit link or remove it entirely using the Remove link.

7. Repeat entering your work history using the Add Company/Organization button.

8. Enter the names of the various professional societies and other certification information in the "Professional Societies / Certifications" field.

As with the Bio field, you can use HTML tags to format the appearance of the text located in this field.

In the next step you will enter your school information.

9. Under the Education label, click the Add Institution button.

The Add Institution window appears.

10. Enter your school name, degree and major plus the dates attended.

Select Current if you are currently enrolled at this institution.

11. Click the Update Institution button to insert the school information into the Education section of your profile.

12. Repeat entering your school history using the Add Institution button.

13. Under the "I Am Here For", select the "Being contacted about job opportunities" option.

14. Click Save Changes to save all of the information you entered on this page.
