Register now at www.bentley.com/BeEmployable to receive access to free Bentley software and training. Sharpen existing skills or develop brand new skills in your own time while you search for re-employment.
About time huh? This economy is horrible. People are losing their jobs left, right, and center. This new offer from Bentley gives unemployed infrastructure professionals new opportunities to increase their competitive edge in this most challenging of job markets. That is why I am incredibly proud to be a part of the team that has just announced this fabulous new initiative called Be Employable.
The Be Employable initiative will provide unemployed infrastructure professionals with no-charge access to Bentley software and training. It will provide online tools to help users develop their own personal learning needs. And it will provide the necessary Learning Units to help workers maintain professional qualifications while they seek re-employment.
Support is provided right here on the Be Communities. And I am certain this new initiative will help many unemployed users sharpen current skills. Better still, I think Be Employable will provide the perfect route for unemployed infrastructure professionals to develop brand new skills when using Bentley software for the first time.
I could go on, and on. But I think you would be better off visiting the web site for more information at www.bentley.com/BeEmployable Check it out. And if this initiative is for you... I wish you much luck!
Cheers

Excellent idea.
I am about to be made redundant in the UK (end of May this year) so this will be very helpful.
Thanks,
Nigel.
Thanks nigel. I wish you luck, please be sure to register your interest online! www.bentley.com/BeEmployable
We have received much positive feedback. One of your local industry editors - Martyn Day - wrote to me saying:
“Bentley is the first software vendor to actually deliver a well thought-out package to help unemployed infrastructure professionals. The Be Employable initiative will help folks improve their skills while job hunting. This kind of offer reflects really well on Bentley and on our industry. It will surely give many people broader employment possibilities.”

This sounds really, really great. A ray of light through the stormclouds.
Congratulations to all the people at Bentley who made this happen.
Its very good to me
This is just one more example of how Bentley values long-term relationships. It's one thing for Bentley to see the monetary value of a relationship with a corporation, it's something special to have them go the extra mile with this program.
Wow, a corporation that cares about the individuals that use their products. Think it will catch on?
I think the integration of training, forums and trial software is admirable but I question why a trial software for people to test drive isn't available. It will be difficult to steal market share from revit and archicad if it is so difficult for professionals and students to get to know the software.
Getting to know the software and getting to use the software sometimes end up having some overlap :) Seriously, we do offer evaluations of our products -- if you have not yet, you might want to contact our sales team through http://www.bentley.com/bentleywebsite/tools/sales_contact.aspx.
Why limit this learning and development use of Bentley software to only unemployed people?
Oracle allow anybody to sign up and recieve personal use licenses for their products.
I know there is a home use lic via my employer and there is this new scheme but wouldn't it be better to just simplify it all and have personal use licesnse anybody can sign up to on your website?
Cheers for trying though...
This is a great offer. Here's an idea if you want to go further to assist the Microstation users who are looking for work and employer who are looking for specialized staff.
Under the profile is the INTERESTS (FOR STUDENTS ONLY) tab. Inside this area tells the employer specific interests, experience levels, and profession (i.e.: Architect, Healthcare or Airports, +2 years experience).
Unfortunately it's only for students! How about putting a check box below that for school graduates & professionals.
Would like to see this out to your readers and see what the interest response is!

Angus, thanks for the feedback. We have considered that, but in these tough times, we are focusing on trying to help those who want to stay current with our products for the purposes that Joe mentions. And, as you mention, there are great, uncomplicated opportunities for Home Use through Bentley SELECT.
Shelton, thanks (also) for the feedback -- something that we will consider moving forward.
The fourth and final Be Seminar concluded on Friday in Paris, and from what I hear, it was nothing short
My initial reaction was........disbelief! What a generous initiative, timed to perfection.
I have felt frustration that Bentley software was (a) somewhat 'below the radar' in the general CAD universe (b) off limits to individual users without deep pockets (c) expensive/difficult when requiring training.
In spite of all these it has always been my preferred option for Plant, Structural & Civil design over 15 years.
In December 08 I attended MX-XM Edition Fundamentals training for 3 days, at a rare & generous discount; the presenter (15 year veteran user) gave us tremendous value through his deep, insightful knowledge of the product and its application to real world civil designs.
A professionally trained user base must surely attract some of the big players in AEC who use other (less capable) software and are perhaps not fully aware of the advantages that Bentley products offer; I wish the company success in improving its market share.
And now the Ides of March are upon us... I've been wondering how early in March are things supposed to get under way? I've been rather eager for some updating since I heard about this...
Shelton Green also brought up a point that I thought was very valid. I looked, just in case being signed up for Be Employable counted as being a student (well, it should...), but it didn't quite at the time I looked.
I was pretty excited about the opportunity too, I signed up last month and haven't seen it.
The market plan is perfect to help unemployed workers find a new career opportunities. I was recently laid off a few months ago and saw the Microstation demo, pretty impressive, I've been a cad user all my life, and this plan is a surefire to produce more microstation users in the future. A great win-win situation for both the job seekers and the company.
