I would like to continue investigating the potential of Microstation Visualization using the Luxology render engine, and I find it fun and useful to now and then share some results in my "3D blog" here at BE Communities.

But I honestly don't see any reason to post to a blog that is is placed somewhere it never will be found or read, which I think is the case now after the BE Communities facelift.  I'm not sure about this, but it looks to me as if it is very hard to navigate your way from the front page to a gallery or a list of interesting blog posts.   I mean - a URL that looks like this:  ".../other/old_site_member_blogs/peer_blogs/b/kurtss_blog/....."  is for all the stuff you don't want anyone to find, I think... :-).

Or maybe I'm completeley wrong - anf THIS is the ideal place to blog about 3D, visualization and rendering?

It is not important to have a whole lot of readers, but it's nice to think that a visitor now and then stumbles by.  Maybe I will transfer the stuff to another site where I hope my postings will collect less dust... ;-)

  • just make sure your last post guide us to your new blog ;)

    thank you!

  • Kurt, I suppose B hope we use the favorites links a lot more for this sort of thing. Agree it's a lot to wade through though.

  • I agree..I found it difficult to locate Projectwise forum posting....not sure how to get all the knowledge sharing posts that existed before the make-over..

  • hey guys, looks like the fact that I've already received 3 comments on my posting proves me wrong about this...  :-)

Anyway, it's not a very big deal.  There are some great advantages with the new interface, like all the customization etc., but I still find the whole website kind of looks like it's designed for programmers or computer nerds and all the visual content like galleries/renderings are hidden or removed from menues etc.

Very, very different from the approach to Autodesk, Luxology, Graphitsoft etc...

  • well, I'm still trying to customize this thing to not waste so much screen space and show me things I'm interested in only. No luck yet.

Anyway, I really like your blog and found here many useful tips. so, I definitely will check it again. no matter where it is located :-)

    regards

    p.

  • look, Kurt, I am lost in space as well (finding last weeks forum threads an the like). But finding your blog again was a matter of seconds. Type in Luxology as search - tab "highest rated" and there you were.

Don't worry, you're just to popular to get lost ;)

Q: May I use some of your pictures in a training doc - as a topic starter "see what one can do with the new luxo" ??

    Regards, Bigean

  • Thanks Bigean, really that easy?

Sure you can use the pictures, no problem!

  • Likewise,

The first thing I did was to search for your blog and add it to my favourites.

  • Perhaps under the visualisation Wiki we can have a page that contains links to visualisation related blogs?

  • Hi Kurt, sorry to see this happen! (and I agree about the unfortunate 'facelift')

Your work has been an amazing journey through what V8i can do in terms of rendering - thanks!

  • (By the way, anyone else notice that the blogs seem to be over-run by advertisements for hookers and drugs? I guess that BE is wilder than advertised...)

  • you are right!

  • there is currently a lot of strange blogs being posted, and not easy to find the interesting stuff anymore.

  • so the question becomes are we going to just sit around and accept the new facelift, the inability to find and use anything, etc...or are we going to voice the opinion?  Will it matter?

  • The central blog located workd for me better than what we have now. It allowed me to view and browse all blogs posted. Some of the blogs were not really related to a particular Group, but I knew where they were. How do i find a blog now if I don't know who has posted it and what the subject is about?
