Raster manipulation issue, v8i/Descartes vs. v8/IRAS

I have several co-workers that have v8 Microstation and run IRAS to manipulate raster image. There are 2 of us, myself included, which are running v8i and using Decartes for manipulating raster image. All our files are stored in a shared directory which we all can access. The problem is once I have worked on a .dgn file which contains raster, those which have v8/IRAS can only open the file and view the raster image. They are unable to manipulate the raster image to make changes. The vector images they can still manipulate. Is there a solution so we all can manipulate the files without updating the software?

  • You should not have a problem going between Descartes V8i and I/Rasb V8.5.  Please try the following and let us know if it resolves your problem.

In I/Rasb if you do File > Layer Info > All Layers do your raster image show being attached?  What is the letter(s) that show under the Attr. Field?  If it shows “L” then click on the raster image line and it will bring up a Layer Info Edit box.  Uncheck Locked.

If you open the DGN file that the raster image is attached in MicroStation in Raster Manager does the raster image show Read-Only?  In the Raster Manager box you will see a column labeled Read-Only and there will be a check mark in the column.  If it shows Read-Only then you will need to change it to be Read/Write.  You can click on the check mark to make the raster image Read/Write.
