Why do my building views rasterize when I print?

That is the question.

I'm using Bentley Architecture V8i select series 2. I  create a dynamic view (extraction from the 3D model) the line weights and hatches look okay, I live nest reference to a sheet but then when I print to PDF it automatically rasterises the drawing and I end up with very thin pixelated linework. Not good. Can anyone help?

Cheers

Oliver

  • If you are using a rendered view then the printer driver will automatically want to rasterize your print.

In DV's you are probably using "hidden line" which is a rendered view, hence the rasterization.

You may want to check the resolution of your output when using the rasterize funtion by looking it up in your settings (edit printer driver>Advanced) ours is set to 600.600 (600X600 dots per inch) which seems to be acceptable for printing but looks washed out on screen.

  • You MUST rasterrize or things will disappear.  Damon is right, play with your resulition in your printer setup.
