Assumptions:

• This example is based on a networked workspace where the shared workspace in located in drive/share…\V8i_SS3\
• Project data is located in a separate drive/share.

For clarity these locations will be as follows:

• Workspace:        W:\V8i_SS3\
• Projects:              P:\<projectname>

Files in the workspace located outside the dataset(s) will need to be reviewed for changes since this aspect is not covered by this document. Any workspace files that have been customised to your company standards should be included.

This example uses the GB dataset and refers to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss4\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_GB\Dataset_GB Notes.pdf. It is advisable to read the whole of this document for background and have it for reference when working on the dataset.

Summary of steps:

1. Create a new network location for your workspace and dataset in parallel to the existing ss3 dataset; e.g., W:\V8i_SS4\
   
                          
2. Copy existing workspace folders and contents to the new SS4 folder except for the Building Dataset(s).
   
   
   [Note: the BuildingDatasets folder here is empty]
3. Copy the delivered SS4 Building Dataset(s) to the SS4 folder in the same location used by your SS3 workspace. Include the DatasetExtensions folder containing the IFC content.
   
4. Copy your Company Dataset (if you have one) folders from SS3 to SS4.
   
5. Identify any other dataset files that you created in SS3, note their names and locations then copy to the SS4 dataset [this may be an opportunity to move misplaced company files from the Bentley dataset to the Company dataset or to create a company dataset.]
6. If you have modified the Dynamic View drawing seeds contained in any of the \dgnlib\DrawingSeed_<discipline>.dgnlib files copy these to the corresponding location in the SS4 workspace and follow the steps in Dataset_GB Notes.pdf, section 3.2, to recreate the detail seed views.
7. Modify existing Project Configuration Files for projects that are being migrated to SS4.
8. Upgrade or recreate the BB_Floormaster files for any projects that are being migrated to SS4.
9. Modify your PCF template then copy it to an appropriate location.
10. Run DG and Dataset update utilities as described in ABD help. Search using "DataGroup Upgrade Utility" and "Dataset Upgrade Utility" (with the quotation marks) to quickly find the correct pages.
11. The project datasets will be in the project folders, their contents will also need to be updated if necessary using the the  DG and Dataset update utilities.
