Thanks Daniel.
I found the FME extension installer and ran it. My Bentley Map now has the FME menu item under File>Import and File>Export.

The FME Extension to Map is a separate install at this time. In the upcoming Map maintenance release, this will it be included with the Map install itself.

Update: I should mention that the separate install is delivered with the Map install. You just have to manually run that install for the moment. You should be able to find that install in your BentleyDownloads folder. On my machine, for example, the FME extension installer is located in "C:\BentleyDownloads\bm08110787en\FMEExtension".
In the next release, you won't have to do this extra step. The menu item will just be available under File\Import and File\Export once you install Map.
The latest release is Select Series 1.

I recently read an interview with Dale Lutz and Don Murray of Safe Software where Dale spoke of limited support of FME from within Bentley Map
( The online interview http://www.vector1media.com/dialogue/interviews/11182-interview-safe-software-tackles-user-challenges )
"DALE: The latest release of Bentley Map is what we call FME enabled. If you have Bentley Map and you install FME, there's a dialogue that allows you to import or read from FME and suddenly you're able to import CityGML or any of our other 3D formats. Or you can manipulate your data and write it back out."
I have the latest release of Bentley Map and FME 2010 installed but cannot locate a dialog that allows me to read from FME. Is this functionality available in Bentley Map SSeries 1?
