Hi,
if there a limit (both technical or recommended) how many layers can be handled by GWP engine?
I am participating on a feasibility study and it seems there will be hundreds (possibly over a thousand) layers. The most of them will be probably static and could be converted into iDPR (DB attributes have to be accessible) and only a fraction will be displayed on a client side at the same time. I guess it will help a bit, but I have no experience how the publishing engine behaves if so manu layers is configured.
With regards,
Jan
From my tests at least for tDPR the limit is ~200 layers simultaneously. Even if these layers are empty WMS service time-outs when trying to show it on screen. So for tDPR watch that layers do not overlap too much. For iDPR have not hit a limit but there is an error(ST7000321638) in Map Author that trying to delete/copy more than 50 layers it crashes. Also some WMS clients didn't like setup of 600 iDPR layers I tried for country level.
