Import Data Using Chain-of-Custody Values


It is common in lab testing to supply a testing facility with field-collected samples, tagged only with a chain-of-custody code. This code is the only information the lab has about the sample. You can import the testing results returned from the lab, using the chain-of-custody code as a key to move the result data into the correct records.

Let's say the lab supplies its results to you in an Excel spreadsheet in which the chain-of-custody code is one field. These values are imported into a table keyed on the borehole ID, depth and chain-of-custody code:
