Darwin Pump Scheduler: Varying Pump Schedule

Hi! Is there a way to instruct Darwin Scheduler to use different target pressures at different times? For example, I want to set a high pressure during day and a lower pressure target at night. Right now, I have to resort to manually tweaking the optimized results to fit my requirements. It would certainly be helpful if this could be done.

  • Hi Benson, there is currently no way to set up a table of target pressures versus time in Darwin Scheduler, though it's an interesting suggestion.

Does this mean that the pumps in your system are on more (or run at higher speeds) during the day when you have the high pressure target?

That is a bit counter-intuitive to me. Pumping at night is often preferred due to off-peak energy rates.

Is it possible to separate the transmission pipes from the distribution pipes with pressure reducing valves so that customers can have low pressures at night (for leak reduction), while the transmission lines have high pressures at night to enable tanks to refill?

    Regards,

    Mal

  • The pumps are not refilling anytanks downstream. They are set higher at daytime due to higher flow and head loss in the system.

We are not yet keen on installing pressure reducing valves downstream as the network is relatively new, and low on NRW.

It would be great if you could add the feature in future releases.

    Thanks!
