Word Definition

Hello

1- What are the meaning of ‘Trex’ and ‘Thiessen’? I know how they work and no problem with their usage, and just want to know about these two words definitions. Because I could not find them in Dictionary. Does these words are derived from another words?

2- What is ‘GEMS’ in WaterGEMS derived from?

  • Hello Sim,

    1. TRex means the terrain Extractor tool, Whereas Thiessen polygons are named for the American meteorologist Alfred H. Thiessen (1872-1931), so is the name Thiessen.
    2. GEMS stands for Geospatial Engineering and Modeling System.
