Network trace in ArcMap - investigation into looping

Question

All, 
 I'm trying to investigate areas where looping may be occurring (pumping in circles). I use ArcMap as my workspace with WaterGEMS. Are there any tutorials or technical documents that describe the trace tools and steps to implement? I found bits and pieces through the help menu and gave it a shot but didn't have any luck.

If you want to use the Trace calculation type, there is a Quick State lesson that covers this. If you go to Help > Quick Start Lessons > Water Quality Analysis, you can find more information. 
 
There are also tools within Network Navigator that may be helpful in investigating the system. You can find more information on Network Navigator at the following link: communities.bentley.com/.../3149 
 
These don't specifically look for loops, but functions like Trace Downstream or Shortest Path might be used to help with situations like that. Please let me know if you have any other questions on this issue.

One of my colleagues also pointed out a native GIS trace function you may be able to use, since you are in ArcMap. Information on that can be found here: resources.arcgis.com/.../index.html
