Drop of the manhole

HI,

In Sewergems , i want the value of the drop of the manhole doesn't exceed a specific value .

for example if there is a drop with value 2 m and i want 1m to be the max value , so if i want to make this manually i will make many drops before the original drop with small values till when i reach the original drop it will be less than 1 m .

in the attached picture , the red line is the current situation , and the blue line is what i want to do .

  • We don't have an option for 'maximum drop'. Normally designers want to minimize the cover where possible (since that minimizes excavation costs), but that isn't the case in your diagram.

Can you explain a bit more about why you have this constraint on drops of 'not bigger than 1m' ?

  • OR even the sewergems increase the slope of the pipe to meet this condition , i could change it pipe by pipe ... but i want this happens automatically not to change the slope of the pipes by myself .
  • Could you explain a bit more of why a weir would be needed for manholes that are too deep?

In general the automated design tool will attempt to minimize excavation (cover) and should give you a good start at your design, but in some cases additional tweaks and manual adjustment will be necessary.

Have you tried using a matchline offset (0.25 m for example) in the Node tab of the design constraints?

  • I tried your suggestion , it works but i'll have to do that manually and calculate the value of the (matchline offest ) myself.
It will be exhausted if this case is repeated many times. I hoped that there is any way to do that by automated design .

BY the way , is there any method to know the value of the drop directly ? " the value that i found is only structure drop and this value is calculated by subtract the value of the GL and IL , and i want to know the value of the manhole drop only"

    - The weir is used in the case of manhole drop > 1 m to prevent scouring of the manhole ( that's what i've been told by the site engineers ) so if there is a way to minimize the drop to become less than 1m it'll be there no need to make a weir .

    thanks for your reply .

Check out the below Support Solution that I just created and let me know if it helps.

Reporting drop depth of a manhole or catchbasin
