Invert in & Invert out label in the manholes-SewerGEMS

Hi

as far as I understood, for the "invert in" label I should use "Elevation(invert1,2,3,....) and for "invert out" I can use "Elevation (invert)".

but I don't want to see invert in as (N/A) where there is not invert in available in the manhole!

is there any way to come up with that, because e.g. Civil3D show up the "invert in" just where they are available

Thanks

Hamid

  • Are you using the GVF Convex numerical solver? Are you adding these fields to the node flextable? When you say that you do not want to see the "N/A" show up, what exactly do you want to happen? (do you want it to be blank?)

If you're annotating a model with these fields, you could utilize selection sets so for example the invert 2 field only shows for elements that have at least two incoming pipes.

A bit more information may help clarify what you're looking to do.

  • Hi Jesse

    Thanks for your follow up

I am using GVF Convex and just created some labels in "Element Symbology"

I want to software automatically delete those "N/A" labels and shift the next label up!

E.g .in MH-10 delete N/A and shift "INV(out)" up in bottom of Ground.

    Thanks

    Hamid

  • You'll need to use selection sets to do this. For example MH-10 would be excluded in the selection set used in the annotation for Invert In 1, 2 and 3. MH-6 would be excluded from the selection set used in the annotation for invert In 2 and 3.

  • could you please let me know, how can I use the "selection set" ?
    Thanks

  • Hello Hamid,

You can make a selection set a number of different ways, such as by going to View > Selection Set. You can also select all of the elements you want to include in the selection set, then right-click and select "Create Selection Set." You can find more information on Selection Sets in the Help documentation.

Once you have the selection set created, you can use it as a filter in Element Symbology. Edit your existing annotation to view the annotation properties. On the right side of the dialog is an item called "Selection Set." You can select the appropriate selection set for the annotation.

When you apply this, only the elements in the selection set will have the annotation. The others will note. Note that filtering by selection set also works for color coding.

  • Thanks for your response, but, it still needs to spend time to select manually - one by one- for the manhole which have Elevation invert 1 , 2 , 3 and 4.
I recommend you to include it into the next version or at least include it into the "Selection Set" > "Selection by Query" to user be able to do it faster.
    Thanks

    Hamid
  • Hello Hamid,

The program can create a select set by a query. If you go to View > Selection Sets, then select New > Create by Query, you can create a selection set this way as well. The method where you right-click on the drawing was just one way of creating a selection set.
