WaterCAD file format

Hello Beau,

If you save the project in WaterCAD for AutoCAD, you will be able to open the same project in WaterCAD standalone without any issue and see all WaterCAD updates that were made.

If you changes you are talking about are to AutoCAD features, these will not be present in WaterCAD standalone. However you would be able to save the AutoCAD DWG file as a DXF file and load it as a background if needed.

If this doesn't help, please provide a few more details on what you are looking for.

My problem is that I have an already created WaterCAD project which I was modifying in the standalone version and I wanted to be able to work in the same project within the autoCAD environment temporarily and still be able to come back and work on the same project in the stand alone environment later.

Hello Beau,

That should not be a problem. Any changes made in the WaterCAD for AutoCAD environment will be available in WaterCAD standalone.

Should I just import the WaterCAD file into the AutoCAD environment and then save the .dwg file as the same name as the waterCAD file?

Basically when you save in WaterCAD for AutoCAD, it saves the DWG as well as a copy of the WaterCAD model files all with the same base file name. You can then open the .WTG file with the same base file name as the DWG, in Standalone.
