Civilstorm

Hi,

I'm trying to connect two headwalls with a channel, I believe this is done in civil storm by using a conduit and defining the section type as rectangular, or trapezoidal.  When I display the properties it will not let me change it to anything but a circle?  Is this the correct way to do this or is there other ways?

  • There are other options for me to select, but if selected it just goes back to circle.  Attached is the model I was working on.

  • Joe,

It looks like you only uploaded the DGN file. In order to help you out with this issue we'll need to see your .STSW and .STSW.SQLITE file.

  • I was working within microstation using SUDA and then activating civilstorm. I thought the model resided within the DGN?
  • Hello Joe,

Even working within SUDA, the CivilStorm model files are separate from the DGN. As mentioned in Mark's message, once we have the .stsw and .stsw.sqlite files, we will be able to look into this.

  • Hello,

The necessary files should be in the DGN file. I am looking into the issue now and will post again with details when available.

  • Hello Joe,

I was able to export the model data into SewerGEMS standalone and it appears that I can change the section type of the conduits. There may be a setting in SUDA where the change is not being properly set. I will need to coordinate with some of my colleagues with the Civil team to see if they have any insight.

In the meantime, based on the setup of the elements, it would actually may more sense to use the channel link element instead of the conduit. In the layout tools, there is a separate channel element that can be used instead. This will allow you to set the cross section data in the headwall element. Given the use of the headwalls here, using the actual channel element instead of the conduit element is the recommended workflow.

Based on the headwall properties, it looks like you already changed the headwall property "Has cross section?" to True, as mentioned in this forum thread and this link. I would recommend changing the conduit into a channel and see if that helps with the issue you are seeing. Note that the channel properties will be defined in the headwall properties rather than the channel element itself.

    Regards,
