I need to recover an old WATERCAD file that was deleted. I could find it and finally recover it by using a Recovering software; however , when trying to open it ,there is an ERROR message. This error message is in Spanish, but it seems to be related to this other error message "Unrecognized database format". What can I do? I have already tried to open Microsoft Access and use the compact and repair tool in order to repair the database. Also, I have tried to recover my model by copying the model files to a new folder and removing the ".01.bak" extensions. I think these are not appropriate solutions for my problem.

Hi Craig C.,
I think I made a mistake. The software that I´m currently using is WaterGEMS V8i. The version number is 08.11.05.61. I´m not sure if the problem relates to the version of the software because I have been using the same version for a long time. I would be grateful if you could help me checking up the file that I have attached.

The first thing I did was try to open the WTG file in a text editing program to see what version was last used to edit the file. When I did this, there wasn't text as I was expecting.
When I open the model you provided the following dialog appears.
This error is discussed here. That article suggests the WTG file is corrupt and that makes sense since it didn't open as expected in a text editor. However neither of the solutions in the article were successful with your model.
I will open a service request on your behalf and submit a defect to address this. Please reply to my private message with your details so I can add you to our system.
The SQLite file for a new model is about 6.7MB and the ones you provided are about 5.2MB.
Unfortunately, the SQLite and the .SQLite.01.bak files are too damaged and are not recoverable.
You could also take a look in the following folder
%temp%\Bentley\WaterCAD\
This is the where temporary files are stored while a model is being worked on.
Model files are not typically left there when closing an application, however if a product closes unexpectedly there may be some left behind. Look for files ending with a $$$ extension.
