Hi Sir,
Just got some basic doubts. Am using SewerGems V8i (SS4)
Could you pl guide me in feeding the EFF using the Babbitts equation.
Actually, i need to feed the below modified Babbitts formula as per authority standards as follows;
Peak Factor = 4.5 x (population/1000)^(-1/6)
Kindly let me know the way to feed it into S'Gems
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Saran
For your equation, go to Components > Extreme Flow Factor. Pick New > Equation - Population Factor and set the coefficients to
C1=c2=c3=m1=0
e1=1
e2=1/6
m2=(4.5^6)/1000
Try this and see how it works.
Alternatively, you can use the Babbitt formula the way we have it programmed into the Extreme flow library. It is slightly different from your equation. In the EFF dialog, pick Import from library and look at the Babbitt equation.
This is used in the GVF Convex solver for steady runs.

Sorry , its not working.
Could you suggest me an alternative way.
Did you select the Extreme Flow setup that you wanted to use in the calculation options?

You can also see some information (with screenshots) regarding the steps to set up extreme flow factors in the below Support Solution:

If you're still not able to get the custom equation working per Tom's advice, you can always compute the rating table externally (such as in Excel) for a range of expected populations and enter it in SewerCAD/SewerGEMS Under Components > Extreme Flows > New > Table-Population Factor.

Yes Sir.
Hi,
So, shall i consider that in sewergems, there is not any method to implement modified peaking factor equations?
And thus, as per Jesse Dringoli, i can go on further through Excel only.
Thanks all.
Hello,
You can't change the general form of the equations, but there is no reason why your equation shouldn't work because it has the same general form as the SewerGEMS equations.
I'd suggest that you follow the instructions in the link Jesse provided. If you still have trouble, you should send your model to tech support for review.
