AutoSave for Watercad V8i in AutoCAD?

Is there anyway to get autosave to work running WaterCAD within AutoCAD (or in WaterCAD at all for that matter)?

I have Autocad set to save every ten minutes, but it obviously is not working because of WaterCAD.  I've lost quite a bit of work on various instances as a result.

Thanks in advance for any ideas,

Ryan

  • Ryan,

Just so we understand the issue here is the problem that you were expecting the autosave feature in AutoCAD to save the WaterCAD file too or is the autosave feature causing a problem with your WaterCAD file making something not work correctly?

  • Running WaterCAD in stand alone, as far as I know there is no autosave option. Is this correct?

That said, it seems that when working within autocad, Autocad's autosave function doesn't work either. i.e. since watercad doesn't do autosave.

If there's a way to get WaterCAD + AutoCAD to autosave, let me know, otherwise I'll just suffer until I learn to save more frequently.

  • That is correct. Currently, there is no autosave option, but I can definitely put in a feature request for that.

So, is what you are saying that you expected AuotCAD's autosave feature to save your WaterCAD file too when it saved or are you saying that AutoCAD's autosave feature is not functioning when you're using WaterCAD for AutoCAD? It sounds like you are saying the former, but I just want to make sure.

Also, when you close WaterCAD for AutoCAD the WaterCAD software should ask you if you want to save your work before exiting if you haven't already saved it. Is that not occurring for you? I'd like to understand more about how you might be losing your work, so that we can help to resolve that issue.

    Regards,
