SCS storm event modelling

Hi,

we are trying to make design for new storm drainage system in many areas

we consider SCS curve no. for the methodology and am trying to follow the guide  to feed the model with the input data but still i can not find

  • SCSTYPES.xml

to deal with is it missed from my version?

my version is SEWERGEMS V8i (select series 4)

regards

  • If I get your question correctly, are you following the quick start lessons?

If yes then the SCSTYPES.xml can be found in the Engineering Libraries. Under Time-Depth storm event, add new return event from the dimensionless curve as mentioned in the help documentation.

Expand dimensionless rainfall curves in the Engineering Libraries, then expand SCSTYPE.xml & select the required SCS type. Specify the return event to generate the storm event.

If this is not what you are looking for then please elaborate the issue further.

  • thank you very much, now i am trying to model the network with SCS curve method. i have readings for the rainfall depth all over 15 years. how can i get the SCS time depth data out of these readings?

  • Ahmed, you would use the method that Sushma mentioned to create a new design storm based on a dimensionless distribution. After you've selected the desired SCS distribution, you'll see a screen where you can enter the total rainfall depth. After proceeding from that step, the time-depth curve will be generated for you, which can be used in the model.

If you're saying that you actually have a gauged rainfall event (rather than the synthetic event like with the SCS distributions), then you can create it in the same screen by choosing "return event" instead of "from dimensionless distribution", then enter the table of time vs. depth.
