Show pipe crossing in profile-SewerGems

Is it possible to SewerGems show the pipe crossing into the profile?

Thanks

Hamid

  • Hamid,

No this is no currently possible. The profiles only show a single run of pipes.

  • Thanks Mark.
maybe for the next release, Also when I have the profile window open and compute the model , profile doesn't update/refresh automatically! I should close the window and open the profile again.
    Thanks

  • Hamid,

We’d be happy to log an Enhancement for this (to be considered for future releases) – could you provide a bit of background on why you might need this feature and what it would allow you to do?

If you enter “profile lateral” or “profile branch” in the search bar (at the top of the Hydraulics and Hydrology forum), you’ll come across two previous discussion (1, 2) and a Support solution article. Can you confirm that this is what you’re looking for?

As you can see in the discussions some of our civil products can display the lateral pipes in profile view. In the near future, work being done on our Subsurface Utilities Engineering (SUE) solution software may potentially bring this feature to the Hydraulics and Hydrology products including SewerGEMS. SUE was mentioned in a previous post; to find it, you can use the search term "Element Property Inferencing issue in the maholes with drop structure".

  • Yes that was what I was looking for.

    1-

I am going to show pipes crossing in the profile and label them as crossing from right/left , because the client CAD standard need it. Also, when you are dealing with a long profile and have some crossing in left/right , its better to see them and figure out why pipe in a specific node has drop because of pipe crossing or something

    2-

I have another suggestion: is it possible to give access to user to set the "Slope calculated" as manually for each pipe in the next release? e.g. user select couple of pipes and set "user Slope calculated" manually to 3% and then software design cover and doesn't change slope anymore?

3- give access to user to either start design from upward or downward, because some designers prefer to  start design from outfall!!

    4-

Also, I know Bentley has a lot of software and good experts like you which could combine 2-3 software together and enhance software in market.e.g. Civil3D is a good software for providing profile and "3D object view" but they don't have any software for water/wastewater design! they have just SSA for the pipe analyse but Bentley does, but all of those are separated!

Another thing is ; it doesn't make sense for some (small) companies to buy a couple of software at the same time!

Believe me I like to continue my work by Bentley software, because  I have been working with Bentley software for couple of years and it's a little bit hard to switch to a new software with new features, so please try to stay in market at top list, although in Canada " Hydraulic and Hydrology" packages is not active ( Specially in Greater Toronto Area) and clients just know Microstation and Inroad and sometimes WaterCAD,

Infoworks ICM is getting widespread and I think you should review/revise your marketing (or representative)!

    Thanks

  • Hamid,

    1) Ok, I can log this feature request to be implemented for a future version of the software

    2) I'm not sure if we can promise to get the feature added to the next release, but I will certainly make the suggestion to the development team that describes your feature request. From there they will evaluate the feature and try to get it implemented for a future version of the software. I believe with a feature like this, however, that you would need to have some elevations entered in your model, so the software could use something like our element property inferencing tool in order to set the elevations based on other elevations in the model.

    3) I can also make this suggestion to the development team.

    4) Actually, if you own SewerGEMS you really get all our sewer and storm analysis products in one package because you have the option to choose which solver you want to use for your analysis. You can choose between the 4 different solvers: 1) Implicit 2) GVF Rational, 3) GVF Convex 4) SWMM. If you do a search above for "SewerCAD (GVF Convex Solver) vs SewerGEMS (Implicit and Explicit Dynamic solvers)" you will see a wiki technote about the differences between 3 of the solvers.
( https://communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/w/hydraulics_and_hydrology__wiki/11852.sewercad-gvf-convex-solver-vs-sewergems-implicit-and-explicit-dynamic-solvers ). Then we have another wiki article that explains the difference between the GVF Convex the GVF Rational solvers.

We'll also make sure to take your other information under advisement.
