direction of the flow

Question

i get confused about how the sewergems set the direction of the flow ,

what i understand is that the flow direction " direction of the arrow" supposed to be the same direction of the flow goes .
but what i find , sometimes the direction of the arrow if opposite the direction of the flow !

i get confused at all !!

i want to know the concept of how the program set the direction of the arrow and when it supposed the pipe is reversed ?

The flow arrows should be in the direction of flow. However, depending on the start and stop node, the flow may be reported as a negative flow. Try looking at a conduit with the issue you are seeing. Check the direction of flow and then check the start and stop nodes for the pipe. If the flow arrow is pointing from the stop node to the start node, the flow will be reported as a negative flow. If the flow arrow is point from the start node to the stop node, the flow will be positive. 
 
If you are not seeing this in your model, go to Tools > Database Utilities > Synchronized Drawing and see if that helps.
