How to add hydrants to existing model with piping and node network

Question

I have an existing model with piping and node setup. I also have a shape file of hydrants that I want to bring into the model. When I use modelbuilder, the hydrants come in fine, but they are not connected to the distribution lines. It should be noted that the hydrant laterals are not included in the model and the hydrants from the shape files fall on/close to the distribution lines. The idea is to have these hydrants linked to the distribution lines and include lateral loss. How can I get the hydrants linked to the lines as if they were regular nodes?

When you import the hydrants, do they generally fall on the pipes in the existing model? If so, you can use the Batch Pipe Split tool to connect the hydrants. Note that this will create two pipes where one previously existed, and will relabel the existing pipes in the model.
