Adding profile of long pipeline into WaterCAD or HAMMER

Dear All,

I want to know , if I have a long profile of pipeline and I want to insert it in WaterCAD model without making a lot of junctions.

Is there any way to make this long pipeline act line the original profile..

Regards,,

Ahmed

  • Ahmed,

Can you please clarify what exactly you'd like to do, so that we may better understand how to help you?

  • Dear Mark,
What I mean , When I have a 190 Km pipeline and the survey points are every 25 m . i.e I have 7600 junction to enter in model.
What I want to make junction each 5 Km ( 38 junction ) and each pipe want to enter the elevation of the corresponding stretch from the profile to calculate the exact model from original profile.
May this help you to understand my question ??
    Regards,,
  • Hello Ahmed,

If this is an existing model, you may need to simplify the model. HAMMER has a tool called Skelebrator which help with this function. There is detailed information on how to use Skelebrator in HAMMER's help documentation. Something like the Series Pipe Merging might be useful for your modeling case. Note that functions in Skelebrator cannot be undone, so you may want to try this on a copy of the model first.

If you are just building the model, you could adjust the source file so that there are few pipes that are imported when you do this. Depending on the type of source file, you could also add the source file to a new model as a background file. You could then manually place the 38 junctions you want to model and the pipes. Alternatively, you could import the model data as is, and use Skelebrator to simplify the model.
