WaterCAD - Network Unbalanced

Hi,

I have a static WaterCAD model. The model has multiple scenarios referencing a common calculation option. When I run all of the scenarios, two of the scenarios is giving me a "Network Unbalanced" user notification.

I have check the model inputs, desired results, and the model setup, and I think everything is built correctly. I have increased the number of trials to 10,000 and decreased the accuracy to 0.01. At this point, what other options are there to force the model to balance?

Thanks.

  • Hello Harry,

Here is the technote on network unbalanced issue, which you may find useful.

If that doesn't help then we would need a copy of your model, to help you with the issue.

There are two options for sharing your model files on Communities. If you would like the files to be visible to other members, compress the files into a zip file and upload them as an attachment using the ‘Advanced Reply editor’ before posting. If your data is confidential, you can follow the instructions in the link below to send it to us via Bentley Sharefile. Files uploaded to Sharefile can only be viewed by Bentley.

If you send the model, please post here so we know it is available.

  • Hi,

I uploaded the model. I am trying to get all of the child scenarios under 1.0 and 2.0 to balance at the same time. The child scenario that is not balanced is RW 1.2. I have increased the trials to 500,000 and decreased the accuracy to 0.1, but the scenario will still not balance.

LPW 2.2 was not balancing, but I increased the number of trials to 900 and it balanced.

    Thanks for the help.
  • I computed the child scenario RW 1.2, it didn't give me any error about network unbalanced.

I tested it in WaterCAD SS5.

What is the version of WaterCAD that you are using?

  • Hi,

That is interesting. I am using WaterCAD SS5 (I went to Help > About WaterCAD and the window says "Bentley(R) WaterCAD(R) V8i (SELECTseries 5). Under the license information, the "size" is 2000.

I also went to Calculation Options, selected the Stead State/EPS Solver, chose "ADD", and the Hydraulics > Engine Compatibility says "WaterGEMS 2.00.12."

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks.
  • 2.00.12 is the version of the solver. We actually have 4 different versions you can use. Two just mimic EPANET while two have a lot of additional features.

SELECTseries 5 is the release version.
