Using Tariff in Energy Management

In spite of using ‘Time of Day’ tariff in ‘energy Management’ in Example 10.wtg (C:\Program Files\Bentley\WaterGEMS\Samples\), Help document mentions that ‘The Time of Day energy pattern billing period is for Scenario Energy Costs only, not for Energy Management calculations’.

Anyone has idea about?

  • It looks like the message in question (seen at the bottom of the "Energy Management" help topic) is specifically referring to the "Billing Period" field in the properties of the Energy Pricing. The example used in the help above this sentence happens to use the Time of Day tariff type, which is why that is mentioned.

It is trying to say that the Billing period seen there is not used in the Energy Management tool, because Energy Management uses the Billing period set in the "Options" tab of the root Energy Management Study. Using Example10, click on "Daily-GreenDry" on the left side.

You'll notice that no matter what you set for the Billing period inside the Energy Pricing, the Results of the study will aways indicate the Billing period of the study.

We'll look into clarifying this in the help for a future version.
