Error 45527

Hello,

I'm trying to troubleshoot this error. It states: 45527 "Pump" "178" "SP-Pump 1" "Maximum number of iterations 100 is exceeded in constant-speed pump. Check input data." Transient Engine.

Not sure what the problem is - I don't have any issues in other scenarios with similar pump settings.

Thanks,

Brett

  • Hello Brett,

That message generally indicates that something happened during the transient simulation that caused the numerical solver to have difficulty converging on a balanced solution. It could be due extreme conditions occurring (perhaps as a result of, for example numerous vapor pockets forming and collapsing) which could possibly be due to a data entry error somewhere in the model.

You could increase the number of trials based on the below article:

Changing transient solver accuracy and max trials

But I would suggest first doing a thorough check of the data input of the pump and surrounding elements. You can also try adjusting your transient timestep (the suggested time seen under Analysis > Transient Timestep options is a good reference point).

If the error seems to occur at a certain time partway through the simulation, try lowering your simulation duration down to the point where the error does not occur (this may take a few tries), then animate the transient results to see what was happening just before the error occurred. From this you might get some clues as to any problems emanating from a certain part of the model.

If you're on an older version of HAMMER, it might also help to upgrade. The latest version is 08.11.06.58 (SELECTseries 6) and you can see some details of What's new in recent releases in the below article (scroll down to the HAMMER section and look for the articles starting with "What's new in..."

If this doesn't help, it would be best to provide a copy of the model so the configuration of the pump can be reviewed. There are two options for sharing your model files on Communities. If you would like the files to be visible to other members, compress the files into a zip file and upload them as an attachment using the ‘Advanced Reply editor’ before posting. If your data is confidential, you can follow the instructions in the link below to send it to us via Bentley Sharefile. Files uploaded to Sharefile can only be viewed by Bentley.
