SewerGEMS and Auto CAD Integration open and Save

I have already integrated SewerGEMS and AutoCAD , can anyone explain me how to open and save a sewerGEM file (.stsw file) in integrated AutoCAD application, so that edit design in integrated AutoCAD alone. I already know how to import a submodel into AutoCAD but I would like to open a stsw file. Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Suseendar,

You can import a previously created SewerGEMS model into a .dwg file by going to the "SewerGEMS" ribbon tab selecting Hydraulic Model > Import > SewerGEMS Database. Alternatively, you can use the command: _swrgImportProject. You can then browse to and import your SewerGEMS database file (.sqlite, or .mdb).

If the model was created in the Stand Alone version, you must import your SewerGEMS hydraulic model while a .dwg file is open.

After the SewerGEMS model has been imported into the .dwg and that .dwg is saved, then the SewerGEMS model files will be created in the same directory that contains the .dwg. These new model files can be edited in the stand alone version of SewerGEMS.

From that point, all changes that are made in SewerGEMS for AutoCAD will be saved to the new model files whenever the DWG is saved in AutoCAD.

However, the database file that was imported (.sqlite or .mdb) will not be changed when then .dwg is saved.

Additional information can be found in the help topic "Working in AutoCAD Mode" and it's subtopics.

Note: If a .dwg already has (or at one time had) a SewerGEMS model associated, then when trying to import a SewerGEMS database file (.sqlite or .mdb) the following message will appear. Moving the .dwg to another directory will not allow a different SewerGEMS model to be imported.

If you have a .dwg that at one time had a SewerGEMS model associated, but you want to use a different SewerGEMS model with the .dwg, then the following steps will allow you to create a new .dwg that does not have history of an associated SewerGEMS model.

    Option 1: Recreate the .dwg

    1. Open a new .dwg
    2. Reference in (command: xref) the .dwg containing the line work.
    3. In the External References dialog, right click on the referenced .dwg and select "Bind".

Option 2: Create a .dwg and attach the necessary references without "Binding" them.
