WaterCAD and WaterGEMS Compatibility issue

Question

Hi
I have been installing and uninstalling WaterCAD V8i (select series 4) 8.11.01.58 for 32bit systems all day on Windows 8.1 Pro
but each time I Start a (New Project) the program crashes and I get an error.
I have tested the program on Windows XP and It Worked Perfectly fine.
and i tried every possible means of Windows compatibility which ended with no good.
Is there any method or installation that would work on windows 8.1 ??

Thanks every one,, my problem is solved! 
 but first let me explain how

 I started Windows in safe mode and WaterCAD worked perfectly

 I tried to do what you said but by opening Tools --> Options the same error pops 
 and Yes It was a Video card driver problem. solved by downgrading / roll back the video card driver to an earlier driver version. 
 Although windows 8.1 provided the latest driver, and Intel.com provided me with a latest Windows 7 32bit driver but I went with Intel's, even though Intel's installation showed that my current driver is the latest but I continued driver installation , restarted Windows and WaterCAD and WaterGEMS both started perfectly.

Thanks for sending the log file. The details seem to point to a problem with rendering the display pane. Do you know what type of video hardware you're using (integrated video, discrete video card?) and the date of the drivers ? (you may need to update these, especially if they are outdated) 
 A quick way to check if this is the problem would be to boot your computer in safe mode (press F8 during bootup) and try it there. Safe mode uses generic video drivers.

 As Wayne mentioned, dedicated/discrete video hardware is generally preferable over onboard video. Performance should be smoother with larger data sets and a reduced risk of running into these types of issues. Onboard video is convenient but doesn't have the power of a discrete video card. 
 I can't recommend any specific discrete video hardware, but the two main manufacturers are AMD and Nvidia. They both offer a line of Workstation-focused hardware - Nvidia "Quadro" and AMD "FirePro".
