EPS

After implementing EPS

1) in calculation summary chart in the first row called 'all time steps' someone can find flow demanded in lt/sec.

I was wondering if it is possible to have more decimals in this lt/sec or convert it in other dimension (m3/day for example) because I think this value arises if someone adds all demand from all nodes. (it looks like a good verification).

2) After implementing EPS in flex tables there is the option for maximum & minimum pressures. Is it possible to have the above values for a specific period of time (for example I am interested in having maximum & minimum pressure for all nodes from midnight until 6 a.m.)

Thanks in advance for any reply.

  • Antonio,

Regarding your first question, you can right mouse click on many properties, and change the units and formatting. You can right mouse click on the property, and click on "Units and Formatting". You can then choose the units and the precision that you want to see. You can do this throughout the product - in properties, FlexTables etc. So you might right click on a property called Flow (Out) (L/s) and either increase the precision, or change the units to m3/s.

  • For the second question, look at Analysis > Post Calculation Processor.

There you can calculate various statistics for any property over any time period.

  • Just wanted to point out that both of these items have some additional documentation in the Support Solutions area of the Hydraulics and Hydrology Community.

    Unit conversion:

    Post calculation processorl:

To help find answers to future questions or problems, I would recommend using the Search bar. You can click "Change search scope" to focus the search on Hydraulics & Hydrology products only. This will search through years of other forum discussions, plus a wealth of information we have built up in our Support Solutions article repository.

  • Thanks both.

    Concerning the second question

I guess when I have a PRV in a DMA which its set changes over time (Time Modulation called) I simulate the PRV with a reservoir and its elevation is  properly adjusted. Afterwards we implement 'Post Calculation Processor' for specific periods of time το to have maximum and minimum pressures. Am I right? Is it possible to simulate Time Modulation in only one scenario I mean not to use  a reservoir with elevations that need to change which is really confusing?

  • Antonio,

Are you using the Pattern field in a reservoir to change the hydraulic grade over time for an EPS, where the rest of the upstream system is not modeled? Are you saying that you'd rather model the whole system or have just one scenario that starts with the time-varying reservoir?

If you model the entire system (or at least part of it, upstream from the DMA entrance), you can place a PRV node element at the entrance to the DMA and use the "Pattern (Valve Settings)" field in the properties of the PRV to control the PRV's set point over the course of the EPS. The multipliers in the pattern will multiply against the PRV's initial pressure setting.

I hope this helps. Related post below:
