Discrepancies with SELECTserver and SELECTOpenAccess.

How are quarterly billing invoices generated? What data source is used to calculate the license overages?

On December 14, 2016, SELECTserver reported 2 usages of RAM Connections. However SELECTOpenAccess shows 3, including 1 overage.

Furthermore, we use SoftTrack to limit our Bentley license use, and have RAM Connections set to block at 2 uses. The three computers indicated by SELECTOpenAccess all have the SoftTrack software installed. The SoftTrack log matches directly with the SELECTserver log.

  • You appear to have some users still pointed to an old deployed SELECTserver that is reporting usage even after switching to Bentley's hosted SELECTserver. Note that a deployed SELECTserver only sends daily product usage peaks to Bentley, not the start and stop times. So the Product Usage Report, which is used for billing, has no way of determining when deployed usage occurred other than the day. This explains why the first computer in your third screenshot is showing 24 hours of usage. To prevent such usage inflation, I strongly recommend uninstalling SELECTserver from your old deployed server. I also recommend mentioning this to your sales representative when discussing a term licensing invoice as remedies may be available.
