Splitting Tables

At times, you may want to split or break a long table so that it fits properly on the sheet. In such case, the Add Table Break handle on the table can be very useful. See the video below for usage of this handle.

Once split, the spacing between the split tables can be adjusted using the Adjust Sub Table Position handle. See the video below for usage of this handle.

The sub table can be placed on any side of the main table. The Sub Table position property in the Properties dialog lets you set the position of the sub table. Options for this setting are Right, Left, Above, Below, and Manual.

The Properties dialog has some other useful settings which you could use to optimize the placement of tables:

  • Break Type - Sets the way in which you want to break the table:

  • Horizontal - Splits the rows into two or more tables.
    • None – Removes the table break.

  • Break Height - Sets the height at which the table should be split.

  • Repeat Headers - If set to Yes, repeats the title and header on each table.

  • Repeat Footers - If set to Yes, repeats the footer on each table.

  • Sub Table Spacing – Sets spacing between the split tables. This is an alternate method to the Adjust Sub Table Position handle.
