Association Types in Note Tools

In MicroStation CONNECT Edition, the association of notes with elements has been enhanced. The Place Note and Place Label tools have two types of associations, one is the regular association and other is relative association. Let’s see how each of these associations work.

Regular Association

In this case, the note or label establishes normal association with the element. So, if you move the element, the note or label remains at the same place, only the leader line moves along with the element. Similarly, if you happen to move the label or note’s text, the leader line moves along with the text or label. The animation below demonstrates a note with regular association with an element.

To use the regular association, turn on the following icon in the Place Note or Place Label tool settings window.

Regular association is not available when you place a note or label without the leader line.

Relative Association

In this case, the associated note or label moves along with the associated element. The animation below demonstrates a label that has relative association with a cell.

To use relative association, first turn on the regular association icon, followed by the relative association icon.

Note: To use any of the above associations, make sure you have the Association Lock turned on in the Locks ribbon group.
