Measure Area tool

Where are the settings on the Measure Area Tool that will change the area to only show the nearest ft AND instead of Sq. ' show Sq Ft?

I realize that I can round things up in my head but I would like to be able to copy the area to the clipboard then paste it into the drawing.

I also know about the Atool mdl. I use it quite often, I was just wondering if there was a way to change these settings.

Thank you

    AreaAnnotator™

An alternative is to use AreaAnnotator™.

You can format the presentation of linear, area and volume measurement.  You can also round the values of measurements.

    ShapeTagger

ShapeTagger is a tool that performs bulk measurements on area elements. It works in harmony with AreaAnnotator.

Both AreaAnnotator and ShapeTagger are freeware.  They work with MicroStation V8i.

  • Hello,
Could you check the Configuration Variable
    Workspace>Configuration>MS_MEASURE_AREA_UNIT2
The unit of measurement displayed in the field Area is controlled by this configuration variable.
    From HELP:
If set to 1, the unit of measurement in the Area or Volume fields is displayed as unit2.
For example, m2 for Square meters and m3 for Cubic meters. If not set, it is displayed as Sq.unit or Cu.unit. For example, Sq.m for Square meters and Cu.m for Cubic meters.

  • Hi Dbj,

To Round the area measure you can try the following:

    1. File\Settings\Design File menu

    2.  Select Working Units.

    3. Set the accuracy to 0 . There are different accuracy options (0, 0.1,0.12,0.123, ...)

    4. To keep that setting saved make sure to select File>Save Settings.

  • Thank you all for your insight.
Dervalcanny, I think yours is what I was looking for. Although I get a "." after SQ, I can use "Find & Replace Text" to get rid of all of the "."
But that doesn't take care of the rounding off.
Maria Garcia, the only number that changes to "0" decimal places is the Perimeter. I am on V8i SS3 ver 08.11.09.578

     .

    thanks again!
