Drawing titles is a physical representation of drawing areas of a sheet. If you create drawings on sheets by attaching references, then drawing title is a physical representation of a reference attachment. It also helps as a navigation aid to find the sheet on which a given view is attached.
A typical drawing title consists of four fields, as shown in this example. Inside the bubble, there is "Drawing Identifier" field on top and "Sheet Name" at the bottom. Outside the bubble, there is "Drawing Name" on the top and "Detail Scale" at the bottom.

Drawing Title boundary is the graphical representation of the area that the drawing title covers. It is a dotted line around the reference. We can modify the boundary independent of reference area. When the reference is moved or scaled, drawing title boundary is modified accordingly.

Mark,
Thanks for this blog. Just tried adding a Drawing Title to a referenece that was already attached to a sheet. This worked fine, but when I deleted it it detached the reference as well, which is not good!
When you try to delete the drawing title, you get an Alert window asking whether you want to delete the reference associated with the drawing title. If you don't want to delete the reference, select No in the Alert window. The reference will not be deleted.
