Key-in Scripts

“The simplest software applications are key-in scripts. A key-in script is a sequence of Bentley Redline key-ins that are stored in a text file.”

Using some examples from the article “How to string keyins together or create keyin scripts
I copied and pasted the exact four lines above to created a text file called “setdgn.txt”
In a directory S:\CAD\Bentley\ .

I then used the key-in “@S:\CAD\Bentley\setdgn.txt“ to execute the four key-in commands with success.

I wanted to see if the script could be used in MicroStation V8I 08.11.07.171, Bentley Redline XM 08.09.04.88, and Bentley View V8i 08.11.07.440

I then open the properties on each of those applications and placed
“-sS:\CAD\Bentley\setdgn.txt” at the end target line to use a command line switch that, did execute the startup script correctly.

I would like to know how to execute that same script file when already in an open drawing and then trying to open another drawing without having to exit completely out of one of the Bentley applications?

Thanks,
Mike G.

  • A blog tells us how you accomplished something.  In this case, you've successfully created an @script and told us how you did it.  Your blog will help anyone attempting their first keyin script.

If you have a question, a Forum is a better place to ask it.  Post your question about how to open a new DGN file to the MicroStation V8i Forum.
