I also use the variable MS_REF_NEWLEVELDISPLAY = 0 in my config to solve this issue.
How embarrasing ... Didn't realise that overide existed!
that's perfect
thanks Barry
Cliff,
Within the file where you are bringing the nested references into go to the reference attachment settings for the file(s) that you don#t want new geometry to be visible and set the New Level Display pull down menu to Never.

Hi,
any help on this would be appreciated...
I am working in a .dgn file with nested references (depth 1)
I would like to control the level display in the master file so that data drawn on new levels within the nested refs do not automatically display in the master file.
I know that this can be done through a config variable but would really like control to be file specific.
Can anyone advise on a workflow using level freeze perhaps?
thanks in advance
