Using Saved Views To Control Reference Display
Many users have asked to save the display on/off state of Reference attachments in Saved Views. However, the concepts are not really compatible, because Reference display on/off affects all views, while Saved Views are meant to change only the display of the view to which they are applied. However, if you have MicroStation V8 XM Edition version 08.09.03.xx or later there is a way to make it work. First, make sure that the MicroStation capabilities CAPABILITY_REFERENCE_ATTACHLEVEL and CAPABILITY_REFERENCE_VIEWLEVELDISPLAY are enabled. Then assign Reference attachments to a particular level using the Reference Attachment Settings dialog box (remember that you can always create new levels for references if necessary) . Then you can turn the level that the Reference is assigned to on or off as desired, and the reference display will follow. Make sure that the Reference's display bit is turned on, because both Display and the level to which it is assigned must be turned on for the reference to draw. Create a saved view with the Reference's level turned on or off as desired.
