JMGalotti:Is there a way to generate the displacement from an aerial or is it done by hand?
My test is made using prcedural maps from FilterForge Pro
I think the only way to generate a useful map from a real site is to use grayscale colors that match each surfaces heights. The aerial photo can only be used for texture draping. In most cases this method will be pretty much useless of course, and my test is more of a curiosity...
When I look at the manhattan render, it would be cool to actually transform that image to geometry, or can we do that already?
yes, we can. there is a tool that let you convert any bitmap into geometry by each pixels greyscale value. I think it's placed among the surface modeling tools (I can't access microstation right now to check)
Kurt means "Surface by Image".
(direct key-in is CREATE APPROXSURF)
MicroStation Help seems to have a comprehensive enough description of it.
