Hi Kurt,
Thanks a lot !
For the still image, a little bloom added a soft light that really changed the "feeling" of the picture.
(I was a fan of David Hamilton's pictures some time ago ...:-) )
For animation I used draft settings, with stroke tolerance lowered to 0,35.
The original resolution is 1024 x 576.
And you're right, I did use DoF, and 16 sample AA.
I seems that AA enables to change the resolution with less loss in quality.
I had to change fur displacement ratio up to 2,5 because some images did not complete.
Nice example, Vincent!
7-10 minutes per frame sound a little bit much (especially if the original animation resolution is the same as youtube version shown here), but I guess it is because you have DoF enabled and probably high AA settings?
The still image looks very good!
I'd like to share on this forum this video made with MS SS3.
Road model was entirely done with Bentley PowerCivil (and primary goal of video is actually to promote this product).
SS3 was used because of its lightning speed, traffic simulation tool, and populate tools (very nice tool to create forests !!!).
Rendering was done on a "usual" computer with a 2,66 GhZ E6750, with an average time of 7 to 10 mn per frame (winXP, 3 Go RAM).
I could crank up resolution to 1024x600 in animation mode, and could create 1280x720 High Res pictures.
sample still rendering:
I want to thank every body ni this forum for their ideas, questions, and resources which helped me a lot creating this renderings.
A specific mention to Bentley colleagues (Viz, marketing, civil, ...great team !), and to Ivo Blaauw who shared the beautiful sky I use in this video.
Thanks again,
