Problem

How to change working units and global origin of a file so it will attach to another file using Coincident attachment method. This will also scale the file to a new resolution.

Product: MicroStation V8

Solution

1. Place a fence in the original file, in an area where no data exists.
2. Key-in: FF=.
3. Give the file a new name and location and click OK.
4. Enter a data point in the view window to accept.

Note: This creates a blank file containing all the settings of the original file.

5. Open the new file.
6. Set working units, global origin, and resolution as needed.
7. Attach the original file as a reference; use Coincident World as the attachment method and enable True Scale.

Note: This scales the file to the new resolution and locates the file in the correct location based on the new global origin.

8. Merge the reference into the new file.
9. Replace the old file with the new file as needed.
10. Attach the new file to the desired file using Coincident.

Note: The file attaches correctly with the correct size using the Coincident method, and True Scale is disabled.
