Problem
Double-clicking on link does not activate the DDE link in V8.5.x as it did
in prior version of V8.
There was a way to "jump-start" DD E Links when linking text to design
from an Excel file so that when you made changes in Excel
it would automatically upgrade the link in MicroStation. What is
happening now is when you double-click on the link text in MicroStation
the text editor opens and it no longer jumpstart the link.

Solution
What you will need to do is to open the Excel spreadsheet that the link
is made from. You will then need to go to the Edit>DDE Links and select
the "Open Source" button. Once this button is selected any changes that
have been made in Excel will now be applied to the link in MicroStation.
