Why will linked Table not update

Problem Description

When I right click on a selected Table to update from linked Excel file, a process bar appears but the Table is not updated to reflect the changes made in the Excel file.



Background

In order for the Table to update the link must be up to date, it could be that the Excel file has been moved from its original location or renamed.

Solution

 
1.   Open the Properties dialog if not already open
2.   Select the Table
3.   Navigate the Properties Tree and highlight the linked Excel file
4.   Select the …Icon against the ‘File name’ property and browse to and select the Excel file from its new location and/or name.
5. Having relinked the Table to its source file right click on the top left hand corner of the Table and select ‘ Refresh from Data Source ‘ to update.

Alternatively:-
 
1.   Open the Properties dialog if not already open

          2.   Move the cursor over the Tables link icon and select ‘ Edit Link

         3.   Follow steps 4 & 5 above.
