The item browser can be used for a wide range of actives: viewing, grouping and editing. To view relationships, turn the “Group related Items by relationship type” check box on. This can aid in determining what types of relationships a specific component has. OpenPlant PowerPID has a mass property update feature that can be used from the Item Browser. This feature allows properties to be updated quickly from similar or different component types. To use, select a class from the tree (ex: Gate Valve), right click and select “Update Property…”.  OpenPlant PowerPID also implements graphical viewing features. These allow components to be “visually” located in a drawing through the means of: Isolation, Zooming or Highlighting. As before mentioned, the Item Browser’s tree can be configured to display in many manners. To get a custom view use the “search” button (Binoculars). The search features allows for a refined query criteria. These queries can be saved for later use as well.
