Clean out old Projects

Hello all,

I am trying to create a project throught the Project Administrator by the same name as one that is long gone. It still tells me that a project by this name already exists. I have deleted the project from Project Admin and moved the root to an Archive. Where does the Project Administrator store the data that indicates it still exists? Can I safely remove this data and if so, how?

I also have a project that became inaccessible and cannot be deleted from within Project Administrator. Is there a more direct, manual way to delete it from the root?

Last, but certainly not least...is there literature available to the Project Administrator such as from courses without having to take the course?

Thanks a bunch!

  • Have you removed your deleted project from the Recycled Projects list in Project Administrator?

For your second problem of the inaccessible project, you can go to the project root, open the at_proj.dbf file, and delete the entry for the inaccessible project. I believe you deleted the project's folder before deleting it from Project Administrator, right?

  • Muhammad,

Thank you for the reply. I have removed the project from the recycled projects and recovered the old one I could not re-create. Hopefully the project is salvageable...thank you.

The other project, which is innacessible, just became innacessible one day out of the blue. I tried everything to get it back, but due to time restrictions I had to recreate it. I have now deleted all records in the at_proj.dbf file.

Question: Is it better to administrate the projects, create, delete, edit, in Windows XP or does Vista SP2 work fine?

    Thank you for the help!
