AutoPIPE XM and PDS

Is there a way to transfer PDS models directly into AutoPIPE XM while keeping the pipe materials, insulation, and fluid properties?

I missed a Bentley elearn seminar 2 weeks ago that covered this, but it has not been posted online yet.

  • Hi .. .

Yes, there is a way to convert the PDS model to AutoPipe.

You will need to configure PDS Stress report, and you need a little software  in order to convert the output file of PDS (Strait)... This program is supplied by Bentley, I think is free when your company bought the software. And they can give you the information for run this applications.. I'ts very easy.

    regards!

  • Please contact Bentley Support (AutoPIPE) and request the STRAIT PDS to AutoPIPE translator. They will also walk you through setting up this translator which requires mapping files installed on the PDS and AutoPIPE sides. This is important as many PDS models are all customized to company standards.

This is a windows based translator which will convert a PDS stress model to an AutoPIPE (NTL) model. It is very comprehensive including piping geometry; piping properties (size, schedule, insulation thickness and density); valve & flange type, size, weld connections, pressure rating and weights; piping material;support locations and types, pressure and temperature data, piping code, other piping components like reducers, 3-way and 4-way valves, rigid components like pumps or strainers; different tee types, different coordinate mapping (CAD to Stress).

You can view this translator in a video. Download this 3min video.
