Description for Bolts, Gaskets not Getting Inside Isometric BOM & Showing as "NODESC"

Problem Description

During isometric generation of OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, Description for gasket and bolts are not getting updated in isometric.It shows as 'NODESC'. See image below.

           

See below case for both OpenPlant Modeler-OpenPlant Isometrics Manager & AutoPLANT Modeler-OpenPlant Isometrics Manager. 

OpenPlant Modeler-OpenPlant Isometrics Manager

Steps to Resolve

  1. Reason for showing NO DESC in isometrics BOM is due to empty description data present in spec. 
  2. Open Spec through MS Access .MDB file. 
    Note - A fundamental use of MS Access MDB file handling should require.

  3. Navigate to GASKET table. 
  4. Check for DESCRIPTION field. See image below. 



  5. In OpenPlant Modeler, it displays under Modify Component/Element Information dialog. See image below. 



  6. To resolve the matter, user should run spec validation report and update the revised DESCRIPTION to appear correctly in Isometrics BOM. 
  7. Click here to check similar wiki article on Spec Validation.
  8. Ensure the correct validation by repeating step 5 mentioned above. See image below with DESCRIPTION field. 



  9. Generate Isometrics and verify results. It will fix NO DESC issue. 

AutoPLANT Modeler-OpenPlant Isometrics Manager

Steps to Resolve

  1. Open Bentley Class Editor. 
  2. Open "OpenPlant_3D.01.06 schema". See Image below. 



    Note - Navigate to working project path as shown below.
    (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Plant V8i\Bentley Plant V8i Projects\SAMPLE_IMPERIAL\Config\OpenPlant\schemas)

  3. Right click on "OpenPlant_3D.01.06 schema" &S click on supplement Schema option. 



  4. Using "Add" button, select Supplemental schema "OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Isometrics_Isoextractor.01.06 schema" and click on "Open". See image below. 



  5. (Optional If dialog appears) Click on "Open" for allowing to select Missing reference schema folder. See image below on how to navigate the correct folder path. User may cancel to load other available reference schema. 


    Note - Path to check - (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Plant V8i\Bentley Plant V8i Projects\SAMPLE_IMPERIAL\Config\OpenPlant\schemas)

  6. Search/Navigate to GASKET class as shown in below image.



  7. Highlight Gasket on the left and go to the "Properties" tab on the right and highlight DESCRIPTION property.
  8. Click on Add/Remove Custom attributes.See image below.



  9. Find the "AutoPLANT_PDW_Property_Map", highlight it and pull it down to add it in. Click "OK".



  10. Under the "AutoPLANT 3D" custom attribute, add LONG_DESC in the Property Name field. See image below.



  11. Navigate to BOLT class.
  12. Repeat Step 9 & 10 under Bolt Property tab.
  13. Save and close Schema.
  14. Restart AutoPLANT Modeler and review the result.



  15. Also perform the above steps in the schemas for other projects
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Plant V8i\Config\Metric\OpenPlant\schemas
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Plant V8i\Config\Mmetric\OpenPlant\schemas
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Plant V8i\Config\Imperial\OpenPlant\schemas

  16. This ensures that new created project also has the descriptions.
