  • Dear John,

Thanks you for the link it clearly says 32bit operating systems are supported on 64bit hardware for the clients.

I agree with your comments. Altough given our setup with the same install's being run on both machines for all applications and that the problem I found was specific to all machines of the given type not one machine or one user - "spot the differnce" is a difficult job...

     Thanks for Your Help,

    Ian Emery.

  • Ian,

There is a hardware/software compatibility list available in the Be Communities wiki:

Typically the OS isolates applications like ProjectWise and MicroStation from the underlying hardware infrastructure, so the fact that the CPU is 64-bit should make no difference.  Most hardware delivered today uses 64-bit CPUs.  I would suspect the problem is not directly related to the CPU architecture.

     HTH,

    John

  • Dear Michael,

We have similar issues/questions but in our case with using Microstation 08.09.04.51 and projectwise 08.09.04.89 on 32bit windows XP SP3 running on a 64bit hardware. (Intel Xeon 5160 @ 3.00GHz 2-4GB Ram). The machines were delivered with 64bit windows but due to internal suppport issues we re-installed 32bit windows ).

I have already found one example (reported to TSG) where projectwise fails to create document attribuite sheets automatically but only when the client was running on this hardware. I may have another issue with memory usage (TSG are looking into it).

Can you say anything about compatibility in this case ?

     Best Regards,

  • I must have been blind not to notice this folder in controll panel :)

Thabk you very much sir!  Now everything is working!

  • Bentley ProjectWise V8 XM 8.9.4 is fully supported and tested on 64-bit Windows XP and Server 2003 operating systems.

However, there are some quirks to using any 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows (all Bentley products currently are 32-bit apps). 64-bit Windows runs 32-bit applications in a separate operating system layer, and Windows keeps separate "core" operating system components and registry entries for 32-bit apps and 64-bit apps. See  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896459 for more information about this.

With respect to the location of the V8 XM ProjectWise Network control panel applet, on 64-bit operating systems it should be located under the "View 32-bit Control Panel Items" entry in your Control Panel window.

If you are still having problems seeing your ProjectWise V8 XM datasources, I encourage you to contact Bentley TSG for technical assistance.

    HTH

     Mike

  • I have a problem with PW Explorer XM  08.09.04.89 installed on Windows XP x64bit edition. I cannot see any datasources that was added to registry. There is also no ProjectWise Network component in Control Panel. I can run but all I see is root (ProjectWise Explorer Datasources) element.

What is supprising PW 2004 was warking on the same machine without a problem.

I have just instales PW XM Explorer on another x64bit machine and I have excatly the same result.

Is it possible to have fully functional client on x64 XP?
