  • Hi Steve,

Have you looked into getting a VM (even a trial copy) to run on one of your XP Workstations?  Just a thought...

  • John and Kevin,

Thanks for information. This is going to be our proof of concept with about 25 users and 2500 files. Nothing terrible. Plus our 64 bit machines have better specs than our servers do. Our Applications group is down 3 employees so it would be 18 months before they can get to it and I would really like to start earlier. Sounds like we will have to wait for them though. Thanks

  • Steve,

I would highly recommend sticking with a server OS for the PW software. This is what PW was built for and tested against.  I don't  know the scale of your intended use, but in general, server OSs are built to support multi-user applications like PW and the underlying database, XP really wasn't built for that kind of use.

Maybe you could consider leveraging PW Online and have Bentley host the servers for you?

  • XP client has a physical limitation on the number of network connections it allows, i don't think you would find ProjectWise running on XP very useful.

Your server applications group can't setup/run the server for you?

  • I have read the information about what OS's ProjectWise is certified for. Due to state regulations, only our Server Applications group can use Windows Server products. Is there any way the PW Server XM will run on 64bit Windows XP? If not we are out of luck with PW. Thanks
